Created for LET’S USE THESE THINGS, the video Fila Buster in the Autotuniverse builds a mytho-narrative about history, transformation, and black survival through Pagan symbology and embodied fitness practices. It posits such accessible practices as wisdom traditions and actions of potential magic and power. The work addresses age, belonging, value, agency and Black subjectivity as an experience of endless transformation and unfolding. Filmed partially in the space in which it would later be installed, traces of the actions recorded, such as the paint whipped at the walls as seen towards the end of the video, remained in the installation space, as if to mark the traces of a ritual.
